Learning to work together and making it a team effort is one
of the most important things you can do in marriage. Work together: having the same goals and
values, wanting the same things out of life, and being willing to negotiate if
they differ. (p. 223)…Approach marriage as a shared experience, one where you
are on the same team….It’s a whole different approach to problems in life, because
you solve them together, not unilaterally.
I can’t say: “Okay, we’re doing this” or “we’re doing that.” With the team, it’s “This is what I think –what
do you think?” And that’s where we are
in our marriage. (pp. 223-224)
