Big Bay Park

In Big Bay Park one sunny morning
an old couple is sitting on a big flat rock
atop several other rocks by the narrow beach,
gazing at the deep blue sky and the turquoise water.
Millions of tiny sparkling diamonds are cheerfully dancing in the sun with the gentle breezes.
Far far away in the horizon of Lake Michigan
a little sailing boat
is moving slowly like a white dot
floating along the deep blue line
where the cloudless sky and the tranquil water meet.
Several white seagulls with black-tipped wings
are etching back and forth across the azure sky.
Now and then a seagull swoops down, diving into the water,
trying to snatch some fish then soaring up again
triumphantly holding its catch in the beak.

The old couple is still sitting there on the big flat rock,
Quietly gazing at the turquoise water,
they see reflections of the people they have known and met in the good old days
---the good old days when they were young and full of vim and vigor.
Images and scenes of the good old days.
---Some long gone, some lost with time and space.
The good old days of sweet dreams and hearty laughters,
all reflected in the turquoise water like tiny sparkling diamonds dancing with the gentle breezes
Long gone are the good old days of sweet dreams and hearty laughters.
Long gone are the good old days when they were young and full of vim and vigor.

Waves after waves are chasing one another in Lake Michigan.
The sun is high up in the deep blue sky
White seagulls are gliding back and forth,
soaring up and diving down between the deep blue sky and the turquoise water,
trying to catch something for the day.

The old couple is still sitting there on the big flat rock, silent.
Very soon the sun will move to the West,
and the orange sun rays will be caressing Lake Michigan
with long stripes of pink and purple silk dangling across the horizon
far far away in the West.

Lake Michigan in twilight
and the twilight of human life

In Big Bay Park  one sunny morning
there stands the big flat rock
atop several other rocks by the narrow beach.
Waves after waves are chasing one another in Lake Michigan.
White seagulls with black-tipped wings are gliding back and forth,
soaring up and diving down between the deep blue sky and the turquoise water,
trying to catch something for the day.
