Notes after Reading Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (1899)

From ancient Roman conquerors to Western European colonialists in the 16th-19th centuries, to Chinese imperialists in the 21st century, the nature and behaviors of humans have remained unchanged.  Greed, selfishness, and mercantile interests of the mighty, often well-disguised under the alluring masks of "civilized" religious, educational and economic development/cooperation agendas,or humanitarian aids, are the driving forces of barbaric war crimes, cultural genocide and environmental destruction --all against the sustainability of life on earth.
