Fake News: Some Questions to Ask Yourself:

... whether you read, repeat or repost news, here are some questions to ask yourself:
  • Have I heard of the publisher before?
  • Is this the source I think it is, or does it sound a bit like them?
  • Can I point to where this happened on a map?
  • Has this been reported elsewhere?
  • Is there more than one piece of evidence for this claim?
  • Could this be something else?

Solar Eclipse 2017

At the right time and on the right spot
total darkness falls upon Earth.
A tiny black saucer has gradually swallowed up the giant radiant orb,
leaving a diamond ring dangling in the sky
and cheering crowds of star gazers
standing like silhouettes in pitch-black open fields.
Confused, cicadas stop chirping, and birds hastily return home,
Nocturnal animals, having come out for preys, stop short to look around.
Then, hesitant for a few moments and a little puzzled,
they run back to their safe heavens,
hoping nothing will disturb their sleep again.

Let's hope nothing will disturb Earth
in 7 or 99 plus years, or so they said.
Despite the tide rises or the tide falls,
let's hope nothing will disturb us again.

The giant disk continues its sparkling radiation
The tiny saucer moves on its familiar path,
following its same cycle of wax and wane.
And everything will be back to normal again.

Love And Hate

Obama tolerance tweet becomes most liked

  • 16 August 2017

It may be President Trump's communication tool of choice - but it's a tweet by former President Barack Obama that has become the most liked in Twitter's history.
The tweet, the first in a series of three, quoted Nelson Mandela and was accompanied by a picture of Mr Obama smiling with a group of children from different racial backgrounds.
It has been liked almost three million times since it was posted on 13 August following the attack in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The milestone was reached at approximately 01:07 GMT, Twitter told the BBC.
It overtook a tweet posted by Ariana Grande expressing condolences after the Manchester terror attack in May.

‘Taught to love'

Over three tweets, Mr Obama quoted a passage from Mr Mandela’s autobiography, The Long Walk To Freedom.

"People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
